PUBLIC NOTICE - The Town of Arlington Industrial Development Board (IDB) will hold a meeting on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at Town Hall (5854 Airline Road, Arlington, TN) at 5:30 PM. Meetings are open to the public and meeting length varies based on the agenda.

🚧Road Work Ahead on Airline Rd🚧 Starting February 16, crews will begin repairs on Airline Road between US 64 and Bragg Road (see map). This project will address road edge erosion and drainage issues to make the roadway safer and more durable.
Because of the narrow two-lane roadway and deep ditches, a full closure is required during construction. There is not enough room to safely allow through traffic while work is underway.
• Construction is expected to last about 4 months (weather dependent)
• Local residents will still have access to their homes
• All other traffic must follow the posted detour
Please watch for workers, obey all signs, and use extra caution in the area. We appreciate your patience while we make these improvements for a smoother, safer drive for everyone.

TRASH UPDATE (2/2, 10:00 a.m.): Waste Pro came out this morning to try to collect, but for safety reasons they’ve decided to pull the trucks before completing the Friday routes. We knew it was a bit of a long shot with these road conditions.
They plan to stick with the schedule and try again tomorrow for the Monday route. If anything changes, we’ll share an update — because we know everyone’s ready to clear out those extra bags (once you can dig your bins out of the snow).

🗑️ Trash Service Update – Collection Resumes Monday: Here’s the news we’ve all been waiting for...Waste Pro plans to resume solid waste collection tomorrow (Monday)!
The landfill is scheduled to reopen, and while some road conditions may still be a little questionable, crews will service as many customers as safely possible. We expect conditions to improve greatly as the week progresses.
Current catch-up plan:
• Monday (2/2): twice-missed Friday route
• Tuesday (2/3): Monday routes
• Wednesday (2/4): Tuesday routes
• Thursday (2/5): Wednesday routes
• Friday (2/6): Thursday routes
• Saturday (2/7): Friday routes & any remaining stops
Thank you for your patience (and for hanging in there with the extra bags). We appreciate everyone working together to help crews catch up safely!

📌 Winter Weather Update – Friday: We know many neighborhood streets are still icy, and we understand the frustration. Our major roads are clear during the day. But with cold overnight temps sticking around, many secondary and neighborhood roads remain icy and slick.
If you’re able, shoveling driveways and sidewalks while the sun is out can help speed up melting ☀️ The good news: temperatures are expected to climb above freezing starting Monday.
Our Public Works crews have worked nonstop, focusing first on major routes, bridges, overpasses, intersections, and critical infrastructure (think: fire stations, the ER, the wastewater plant, and the post office).
Crews are now moving into secondary routes as conditions allow - many have probably seen them today.
Because winter storms like this are rare in the South, we don’t maintain the heavy snow equipment you might see up north, it simply wouldn’t be the best use of taxpayer dollars, but our team is using every tool and bit of salt we have to keep roads as safe as possible.
Thank you for your patience, for checking on neighbors, and for giving our crews a little grace as we all wait for warmer weather ahead.

❄️ Trash Service Update: After a week at home, we know those trash cans are probably filling up a little faster than usual.
When service resumes (hopefully Monday), crews will start with Friday’s missed route first, then roll into the regular schedule beginning with Monday’s routes. This will work like a holiday week, with service shifted forward by one day.
To help with the delay, Waste Pro will accept extra bags placed beside your can next week.
📌We’ll share updates if anything changes, so be sure to follow the Town page for the latest information.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

📌 Town Closures – Wednesday, January 28
It’s not Groundhog Day yet, but it’s starting to feel like it. ❄️ Due to ongoing hazardous road conditions:
• All Town Offices will remain closed, including in-person programs at the Library and Senior Center.
• Trash & recycling service will not run on Wednesday due to unsafe roads and dump closures.
• The County Tax Clerk will not be at the Safe Room to collect property taxes as scheduled.
Our Public Works crews are still out there doing the real-life hero work, tackling local roads while TDOT crews focus on primary routes and ramps. We are incredibly thankful for their long hours and steady efforts in tough conditions. Crews must start with main routes first and have been pushing through packed snow and ice to make travel safer wherever possible..
❄️ Friendly reminder: Colder temperatures tonight mean black ice may return in the morning—sneaky, invisible, and best avoided.
Please continue to use caution, avoid unnecessary travel if you can, and thank you for your patience (and good humor). Stay safe, everyone.

📌 Town Offices Closed Today – Tuesday, January 27
For clarification, all Town Offices are closed today, including in-person programs and events at the Library and Senior Center.
Due to unsafe road conditions, trash and recycling service will also not run today.
Roads remain slick and dangerous. Our Public Works crews have been out throughout the storm and continue working on local roads, while TDOT is addressing primary routes and ramps. With a little sunshine and slightly warmer temperatures today, we’re hopeful salt and plows will begin to make some headway. However, with colder temperatures expected again tonight, please be aware that black ice could make travel hazardous again in the morning.
Please continue to use caution and avoid unnecessary travel if possible. Stay safe, everyone. ❄️

Trash Service Update - For everyone’s safety, Waste Pro will not run trash trucks on snow-covered or icy streets. As a result, no trash service is expected today or tomorrow (Monday or Tuesday).
Service will resume once roads are safe. If your pickup day is missed this week, it will be collected on your next scheduled service day.
Understanding the impact on residents, Waste Pro has said they will accept extra bags placed beside your can next week for those who were missed due to the weather.
Thank you for your patience, and please stay safe and warm!

Town Offices are closed today, Monday, January 26. This includes in person events at the Library and Senior Center.
While the Winter Storm Warning has expired, extreme cold remains in our area and roads are still dangerous. Public Works crews are continuing to address local roads, and TDOT is working on primary routes and ramps.
📞 If you become stranded on a state road, call *847 to reach TDOT for assistance.
Please continue to use caution, and stay safe and warm, Arlington!

All officials agree that roads are slick and icy, and unnecessary travel should be avoided. Packed snow is making it difficult for most vehicles to gain traction.
Town staff are continuing to monitor conditions and will have more success with plows once precipitation stops. With temperatures this low, salt is less effective, but crews will keep doing what they can.
Town Hall will be CLOSED tomorrow, as little improvement is expected with temperatures remaining below freezing.
BOTTOM LINE: please stay home and avoid unnecessary driving, unless you’re hoping to meet a local officer or a friendly Jeep club member while explaining why you’re stuck out in the cold.
Stay warm and stay safe, Arlington! ❄️

The winter storm is almost here. Our area will see snow, ice, and several days of below-freezing temperatures. The Town encourages residents to take final steps now to be sure you’re prepared.
Attached are important contact numbers in case of a burst pipe or other emergency.
Schedule changes to the Library and Senior Center calendars to help keep everyone safe during potentially hazardous conditions are also provided.
We’ll continue to share updates if any additional closures or changes are needed.

❄️ Winter Weather Update – Ready or Not… Here It Comes! ❄️ Winter is officially knocking on Arlington’s door starting tomorrow. While we don’t know exactly how much snow or ice we’ll see, one thing is clear: we’re in for a WINTER STORM and several VERY COLD days ahead.
Weather officials estimate road closures, impacts to infrastructure, and weather-related power outages likely. So if your “storm prep” so far is just grabbing milk, bread, and toilet paper… you might want to level up a bit.
A few easy things to check today:
• Top off the gas tank
• Refill any important prescriptions
• Put fresh batteries in flashlights
• Charge devices and power banks
• Bring pets inside and protect outdoor pipes
• Gather blankets, snacks, and cozy socks (very important!)
Forecast details are still estimating impacts, so keep checking your local weather sources. For now, take a few minutes to get storm-ready so you can stay warm, safe, and comfy at home. Stay safe, Arlington!

Waste Pro is collecting as much as they can each day, but they currently do not plan to send extra trucks to Arlington on Friday because of the potential for snow Friday night and Saturday.
If your normal service day is Friday, you can place your cans out as usual. If crews are able to finish Thursday’s routes and safely reach Friday routes, they will collect — but this is not guaranteed.
Thank you for your patience as crews work through these challenges. We’ll share any updates we receive.

Motorists should use caution in the area, as traffic may be temporarily redirected. Nearby residents may experience service interruptions while repairs are underway.
We appreciate everyone’s patience as crews work to safely resolve the issue.
