The Wastewater Department is responsible for the collection and treatment of wastewater, the installation and maintenance of the sanitary sewer system beneath Town streets, and administering the Industrial and Commercial Pre-Treatment Programs.  Revenue for the department is from a monthly service fee included in the utility bill.  This fee is based on water consumption.

Wastewater treatment service is essential to community well-being for two very important reasons:

• it protects public health from disease-carrying bacteria and viruses.

• it protects water quality for both drinking water and recreational purposes.

Commercial and Industrial users should confirm they meet Town requirements and have all necessary approvals prior to operating in Arlington. Check the Pretreatment page and Grease Trap/Interceptor page for more information.
