Property Tax

The Town of Arlington Property Tax Rate for 2024 was $1.28 per $100 of Assessed Value. For 2025, the rate is $1.13 per $100 of Assessed Value (these are in addition to Shelby County taxes).

The 'Assessed Value' is a percentage of the appraised value. The percentage used is based on the property's use classification: Residential (25%), Commercial (40%), Industrial (40%), and Farm (25%). For example - a residential home appraised at $500,000 would have an Assessed Value of $125,000 (or 25%).

To determine your 2025 Arlington property tax, you would divide your Assessed Value by 100, then multiply that by 1.13. Using the example above, it would look like this:

$500,000 home: $125,000 Assessed Value / 100 = 1,250. Then 1,250 x $1.13 tax rate = $1,412

Arlington works with the Shelby County Trustee's Office, who is responsible for billing and collecting all of Arlington Property Taxes, both Commercial and Residential.

Every 4 years, the County does a reappraisal of property values. Information on how to appeal a reappraisal valuation is found on the Assessor's Appeals Process page. They also provide a property tax calculator on their website good for all municipalities in the county.
